How Your Body Interacts with Cannabis

There’s something in your body you don’t know about.

When it comes to body systems, we all know our friends Nervous, Immune, and Digestive but did you know there’s one grandmaster system that works with all others to maintain homeostasis?

It’s called the Endocannabinoid System (ECS) and it’s comprised of receptors that react when stimulated by cannabinoids.

Receptors are located all over your body – in the mind, in the body, in the skin – and there are two different kinds:

CB1, mostly located in the mind.
CB2, mostly located in the body.

Cannabinoids are chemical compounds that can be found in only two sources on this entire planet:

In our bodies. We create natural cannabinoids called endocannabinoids.
In the cannabis plant…and only in this one specific plant.

Your endocannabinoids connect with your ECS receptors like a lock and key to maintain balance. If your body is not creating the endocannabinoids it needs (which is what happens with serious illnesses plus anxiety, stress, migraines, menstrual cramps, etc.), it loses that balance.

Let’s bring it on home: if your body is not making the endocannabinoids it needs, the cannabinoids in the cannabis plant can sub in to resume homeostasis. So all those claims about cannabis curing everyone’s ailments? They’re actually true.

It looks like there’s only one perfect match on this planet and we all know it’s not Ariana and Pete. Here’s to cannabis and you, to have and to hold, ’til death do you part.
